When I was in the throes of planning my wedding, I was constantly looking for wedding inspiration and ideas. With the plethora of information out there it’s really hard to sift through it all and figure out what’s what. It can easily become overwhelming and with new information and inspiration popping up on an hourly basis how do you keep up with it all? This is how!
I bookmarked a few of my favorite sites and set aside time daily ( lets face it once that ring goes on ya finger you start looking at wedding stuff EVERYDAY until your BIG DAY…you can’t help it). So while there are several different sites to choose from, I found the sites listed below the most useful and I hope they do the same for you as well. Happy Planning!
The Brides Café – The Bride’s Cafe is a blog about all things wedding and all things inspirational. I found it through Essence magazine and a little sister of mine who always loved to see their featured weddings (Thanks Kelly). I fell in love with the site as I was in the middle of planning my wedding. It features real weddings that are edgy, sophisticated and romantic. This is a great place to start for planning.
Broke Ass Brides – This blog was great because it empowers brides to spend wisely, live richly and thrive creatively – crafting an awesome wedding (and life) on any budget. This clever blog makes it clear it’s not about how much you spend, it’s how you spend it!
District Weddings – This site is great for the D.C. bride. It features real D.C. weddings, planning tips, vendor options, and design inspiration for creating a wedding day filled with style, charm and personality. A must see if you’re in the area and trying to figure out how to plan your DMV wedding.
Martha Stewart – Of course all things Martha Stewart are fabulous. So, it should be of no surprise that Martha Stewart Weddings helps brides and grooms alike create beautiful and innovative ideas that span every detail of the big day — from the proposal to the honeymoon. Their content is inspiring useful and informative. They approach each area — planning, etiquette, fashion, jewelry, beauty, cakes, flowers, favors, registry, stationery and travel — with an eye to giving brides what they’ve come to expect from Martha.
Munaluchi Bridal – I was so happy to find munaluchi because there really is a lack of information available for black brides. Their publication is built on how to improve/enhance the options for the bride of color. They offer readers the opportunity to easily source wedding information such as banquet halls, photographers, wedding gowns, and more. They aim to be the prime source for all black brides who are looking for top-notch wedding vendors. The information they provide is top notch and my hubby and I even had our engagement photos featured on the site. Check them out here!
Style Me Pretty – SMP brings chic, stylish weddings to the masses. Real couples, real weddings are the inspiration of SMP and they find wedding inspiration through the most beautiful gowns, the loveliest of flowers, and the perfectly crafted details. The great thing about SMP is that they show a range of weddings from the classy chic elegant affairs to the downhome country rustic wedding.
