Have you ever seen the movie Julie & Julia? The movie stars Meryl Streep and Amy McAdams and is a story based on Julia Childs and her start in the cooking field, which is then intertwined with Julie Powell’s 2002 Challenge to cook all the recipes in Childs’ first book. Mind you, Julie made 524 recipes in 365 Days. Not sure if I’m up for that challenge quite yet. But, if you haven’t seen it, go rent it! I truly LOVED the movie! So, when my sister bought me the book “The Joy of Cooking” for Christmas, I was TOO excited to use it! While I won’t be taking the 524 recipes in 365 days challenge, I have decided that anytime I do cook something from the book I will post it. So, this will be the start of my “Joy of Cooking” series.
To start things off I selected a recipe and made it below. Please note that the Joy of Cooking cookbook has over 700 recipes so there will not be any 700 recipes in 365 days for me! I’m going to set my goal slow to start and say one recipe a month. If things increase, great but slow and steady wins the race!!
I tried out the recipe below because I thought it was simple and sounded good. A pomegranate spin on a Mimosa and it was actually quite yummy! Check it out below.
- 1 Bottle Chilled Sparking Wine
- 2 oz Pomegranate Juice
- Pomegranate arils
- Pour pomegranate juice into chilled champagne flute or wine glass.
- Fill glass with chilled sparkling wine.
- Garnish with pomegranate arils
