Amsterdam is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. The streets are lined with beautiful flowers and birds chirping. This place really does look like it was torn from the pages of a Disney book or something. Pair that with the amazing food and wine and you’ve got yourself one of the best European destinations around.
There are a lot of cool things to do and I made sure to take advantage of as much as I could!!!! For starters, I’m sure we all know (or at least I hope we do) that Amsterdam is the home of Anne Frank after her family fled Nazi oppression. Now I’m not sure what her house looked like in the 1940s, but her house today looks pretty good on the outside at least! I’m sure it was renovated to match the fabulous landscape that is Amsterdam, but here are some cool pics from inside the museum:
Another cool thing about Amsterdam is all of the canals! I could have floated around the city and been perfectly content! If you’re ever in Amsterdam, be sure to take the canal cruise. The cruise lasts about an hour and a half to two hours and offers so many opportunity for post card pictures! I believe some boat cruises allows passengers to hop on and off, which is perfect if you want to hit some of the museums downtown.
DIY Beach, anyone? Blijburg was super cool! I felt like I had stepped right into a Quentin Tarantino film. The atmosphere is amazing and the drinks flowed freely. I think they frown upon getting drunk and stumbling near the water, but I sure saw a lot of people doing it!!!! I would show you more pictures, but there are far too many strangers in them and truly this “beach” is really not all that impressive in photos!!!!
I’ve never been obsessed with art, but the Van Gogh Museum was interesting! I felt like a grown up walking around the museum trying to take in the composition and intent of each piece (ha…listen to me). I expected there to be a bit more art work than was actually there, but I had a good time. They were also touchy about people taking too many pictures and it was super crowded which is why there are a gazillion people in some of my pics!
Museum Het Rembrandthuis (Rembrandt House) was not exactly what I was expecting, but good things come in small packages. The place was beautiful and the museum had a lot of interactive displays which is far better than staring at etchings on a wall. The building the houses the Rembrandt Museum is fabulous and a probably took more pictures of the building than I did of the artwork and furniture inside!!!!!!
