Is Dark Blue the New Black?

Recently, I went to a premiere party for a friend whose photo was being presented in an art gallery. I opted for a simple little black dress. However, after I arrived, I noticed that there was another color that seemed to be worn even more than black. At least ten women had on dark blue dresses or pant suits. One woman had on a navy blue short suit paired with strappy black sandals and daring blue eyeliner. Another woman wore a cobalt blue bandage dress with silver heels. I was starting to think that all the women dressed in black (including myself), didn’t get the memo. Since this is the trend du jour, you should have no trouble finding all types of dark blue dresses and pant suits from every store from Forever 21 to Nordstrom. Make sure to not to go too light with your selection and you should look as fab as the other girls wearing this summer trend. Not ready to fully commit to this trend? Start small with a pair cobalt blue pumps or accessorize your little black dress with a cobalt blue necklace or purse. I’ve pieced together some ideas below to help you get started!

    Happy shopping, ladies!

  • Funny, I’ve been wearing my blue eyeshadows by MAC much more than my black eyeshadows. I’m in love with MAC Contrast and Deep Truth, plus Wet N Wild have really pretty navy blue eyeshadows. Yes, blue is becoming the new black for me.

    • I’ve been so scared to try blue eye shadow for some reason, but that MAC Contrast seems subtle enough to try. I might pick some up this weekend.

  • I was excited to read this due to the fact that Blue is my FAVORITE color. I love the fact that I can go into the store and find an abundance of blue unlike a few years ago when I had to really search. Love the site, such a lovely job!!!

    • I completely understand! I love that you can find so many shades of blue during the summer. It looks like cobalt blue is what’s popping right now, but I can’t wait until Fall to see some navy blue dresses and blazers!

And thanks for the loving the site…we really appreciate it!
