In honor of adopting a healthier lifestyle, I have resolved to go an entire month without consuming sugar. Obviously it tastes good, but it can cause a variety of health issues such as the development of Type 2 Diabetes and can lead to obesity. Before I decided to commit to such a difficult task, I took a close look at all of the sugar I consume in a given day. Breakfast consists of a small coffee with two vanilla creams and five sugars and washes down my glazed donut, my lunch choice includes sugar-packed salad dressing and a soda, and dinner is also washed down with either a glass of wine or soda. And that’s just my usual routine! That doesn’t include the occasional caramel peacanbon when I visit the mall or my obsession with a Caramel Macchiato with extra caramel and whipped cream.
I’m not going to lie, facing life without sugar (even if for a month) is like suddenly becoming colorblind or something. So, let’s pay tribute to our old friend sugar and see where this journey takes me over the next month (humor me, people)!
