Going Back in Time: Colonial Williamsburg

Being such a huge fan of history, I have decided to head to Williamsburg, Virginia this month. Colonial Williamsburg is a huge tourist town with tons of shopping, great (non-chain) restaurants, and lots and lots of rich history to enjoy! One of my favorite periods of time is the American Revolution. I am a sucker for the piccolo chirping along to Stars and Stripes Forever, while a re-enactment of American soldiers banging their drums and marching down a corridor to meet the British takes place. That’s what you get when you come to Williamsburg! I mean, where else can you go and see Benedict Arnold betray the American Continental Army and then walk to Starbucks to get an iced coffee? Boston perhaps…but you can’t find it anywhere else in the South.

Complete with charm and a nod to the past, Williamsburg is the perfect blend of old and new with outlet shopping close to other amenities like Busch Gardens, go-kart racing, and golf courses. Nearby Yorktown and Jamestown settlements are no more than 30 minutes away in either direction. Here, you can check out cannon fire demonstrations and have a presenter make you a bar of soap the old-fashioned way. And, after a long day of immersing yourself in a little bit of history, you can enjoy a frozen treat from the Williamsburg creamery on Richmond Avenue. Their ice cream is the BEST!

This place has something for everyone and would make an awesome staycation trip! I can’t wait to show you guys all the awesome places to visit and why you should make Williamsburg, VA your next destination.

  • You should check out the miniature golf place off of Bypass Rd…and it’s near the Cracker Barrel.
