FALL INTO FASHION 2013

It’s that time of year again. When the leaves begin to change into beautiful orange, reddish brown hues and the air begins to turn crisp with the smell of freshness. Most importantly, it’s almost Fall Fashion Week in New York!!! I’ve taken a peek at some of the look-books of designers such as Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Carolina Herrera, Anna Sui, and J. Mandel to bring you some of the more manageable trends that you might want to try this Fall.

What’s Trending?

This season, we are seeing all types of trends from major designers. Bucking the trend of dark rich colors for Fall are designers Coach and Ralph Lauren who are offering key pieces in white. Another major trend, which blends more traditional fall colors like navy blue and burgundy hues, is a plaid trend for the more edgy girl that looks to stand out in the crowd. Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. (http://www.shopbop.com/long-belted-plaid-dress-lamb/vp/v=1/845524441915828.htm) offers a great plaid dress that you can pair with a more classic colored cardigan for $230, but ASOS also has a much more affordable option which is just as chic for only $62 (Available in late September).

One trend I am surprised to see in most Fall 2013 look-books is floral prints! I always associate floral prints with Spring as a sign of the warm weather to come, but designers like Givenchy and MSGM are making this trend more “Fall friendly” by changing the background of the garment from a pastel to a darker opaque color which surprisingly doesn’t overpower the floral design…brilliant!

So out of everything I’ve seen thus far, here are my favs!

The Trench Coat – I don’t think you can go to any fashion show or department store between    September and November and not find a good classic trench coat hanging on a rack! This Fall, I am noticing that designers are staying true to the classic colors, but they are also layering it with another coat (not sure I get that trend completely)! Colors such as the classic tan, navy blue, black, and orange tops the list and are everywhere. You really can’t go wrong with this trend, but I would suggest splurging a little bit in order to find a trench that fits well…especially with a sweater on!

The Full Skirt – This 50s-inspired look is making a strong comeback on the runway this year. I often see this skirt paired with a knee-high boots (in chocolate, black and pewter). Designers like Gucci and Prada appear to offer these skirts in patterns, as well as the other Fall “it color”…green. My favorite decade for fashion is the 60s, but there is an advantage to wearing a fuller skirt…it makes your waist look smaller (YES)!

Berry Sophistication – This trend is my absolute favorite this year. I’d like to consider myself a classy girl with a little spice. So when I saw this Carolina Herrera’s dress complete with studded embroidery and sheer fabric sleeves in that amazing berry color, it was love at first sight. Now, this is obviously not something you can wear everyday, but this may be something to wear to an art gallery opening or another big night on the town. If you have nothing scheduled…find something immediately because you need this dress in your lives!

So those are the trends I’m really loving at the moment. Have you seen some amazing looks for Fall? Be sure to let me know what you’re seeing and what you plan to add to your wardrobes.
