If you live in the Washington, DC area and are looking for something to do on a lazy day, visit the National Harbor.
A lot of the activities offered by this bustling waterfront city for the month of October include free waterfront Yoga and Zumba, a farmer’s market, and a Halloween party. The National Harbor routinely offers a mixture of free and paid events to encourage the locals and tourists an alternative to the downtown Washington scene. Even the restaurants offer their own theme-sponsored events like Ladies Night hosted by Bobby McKey’s. Speaking of restaurants, the Harbor offers a wide range of dining options like Rosa Mexicana, Old Hickory Steakhouse, Public House, and Elevation Burger to name a few.
If working out, picking veggies and spooky parties is not really for you; there are dozens of shops from art galleries to apparel retailers available to feed your shopping addiction (I’m not judging). This place even has a Peeps and Company for Heaven’s sake! Not looking to spend a lot of money? No problem! Take the water taxi round-trip for less than $20 on a tour of the Washington Metro area with stops in Alexandria, Georgetown, and other places along the Potomac.
If you really have no desire to spend a single dime and is just looking for a way to relax with the family, this place is kid and pet friendly, so bring Fido and the bambinos for a day in the sand available on the lower level of the Harbor. This is also where the carousel and sand box for the kiddies are located.
As you can see, the National Harbor is a natural choice for those on a strict budget or those with money to blow. It can bring you lots of culture and diversity. Most importantly, it provides endless entertainment within driving distance!
