I was never the girl who imagined what my husband or wedding day would be like. If you’re looking for that, you should probably check out anything JANE writes about her wedding.
If I could give you any advice about “The Big Day”…I would say it goes by sooooo fast, but it will also be one of the longest days of your life!
If you’re anything like me…
1. Don’t believe the hype. I totally bought into the idea that my wedding day was going to be the most emotional experience of my life. The thing is…it wasn’t. That’s not to take anything away from how wonderful it was to say my “I dos,” but it wasn’t the blabbering fest I thought it would be.
2. Family is important, but also remember to focus on yourself – make sure to live in the moment with friends and family. Everything will go by so fast, so be sure to take a moment if you need one. But don’t forget to squeeze in time for the folks that you wouldn’t ordinarily think of, like grandparents and best friends! I’ve been to a few weddings where the couple didn’t even want you to say congratulations because of pre-planned festivities. Aside from being slightly obnoxious (sorry if this describes you), it prevents the people that love you the most from wishing you all the happiness in the world. My life is filled with so much joy because of my Nanna and great group of friends. Be sure to really share this day with them and take care of yourself.
3. Don’t feel bad about wanting to be on your honeymoon. Planning to stand in front of a room full of people just to say “I do” for the better part of the year is not the best part…the vacation is!
How would you describe your wedding day? What did you learn from it? Feel free to share your thoughts.
